Well what an interesting and thought provoking year it’s been on the Newcastle Herald letters page.
We’ve had fig tree fiascos, rising sea levels in Lake Macquarie, climate change, carbon taxes, three prime ministers and a new Pope, prayers at Port Stephens council, Art Galleries, UFOs, royal commissions and “illegal” boat people.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have had letters published on many of these topics and I’d like to thank the long suffering editors for what must at times be a thankless task.
With the silly season fast approaching I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the letter writers, and to anyone I might have offended I’d like to wish a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukah, a Happy New Year and to wish all my fellow correspondents a prosperous and productive year of letter writing ahead.
One of the greatest things about this country is that we all have the opportunity to voice our opinions freely and I for one do not take that freedom lightly.
Cheers to everybody and I look forward to reading your contributions next year.
